I took the boys to the beach in May. Just me and the boys! Strangers would pass us in the elevator and say things like, “You’re so brave” and “Looks like you have your hands full!” I would just smile and think to myself…. I am so blessed to even be here (thanks to my mom and step dad). Yes there’s ton of stuff to carry, but we made it work. We even simplified and realized how little we really needed to carry by the end of the week.
At night we would go down by the water and watch the sunset. Jackson was 10 months and would usually fall asleep in my arms to the sound of the waves crashing. This particular night Ethan was playing with the sand and I was snapping away with Jackson on my hip <—- this is very common and probably why people tell me I have my hands full. And just like that, Ethan’s world collided with nature at the same moment. The sky ombre matched his skin and the water matched his pants. And the sand falling from his hands popped out just like his belly did. Everything was in sync. My heart was so full in the moments down there by the water and now I have this picture to remember our time together.
All that hard work and I have this moment, a moment I would have otherwise missed, to keep and reflect on forever and ever. My hands and my heart are so very full when I am at the beach. It’s worth it.<3
